BEECHWORTH CLUB PROJECTS
SALVATION ARMY PROJECT
We have a partnership with the Beechworth Salvation Army Corps. This entails assisting in the Thrift Shop customer service area, receiving and processing donations received, administration duties and preparing a monthly community lunch on a Sunday for those needy within the community.
We also run there monthly Garage Sale held on the first Saturday of the month in the church grounds, plus BBQ outside IGA Harper St Beechworth.
The club participates in collecting used spectacles, we have 2 collection points in town being the Local Pharmacy and the Salvo's Thrift shop. so far we have sent off over a 100 pairs for use overseas.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL INFORMATION BOOK
This is another project we have picked up on this year, Our local Pharmacy, Medical Centre and Hospital have agreed to display these books for customers and patients to take, these booklets enable helpful medical information to be attached by magnet to a fridge.
Once again we are christmas cakes, the price this year was still a reasonable $16 each. Anyone in the Beechworth area can by a cake simply ringing John on 0417 054 553 or Email firstname.lastname@example.org
Mints are still available at various outlets around town.
We have been fortunate to gain a grant through TAC to help improve a a local rest area just outside town. This project will help beautify this rest spot, refurbish picnic tables, erection of a shelter and planting of shrubs. This will be done in partnership with the local Police, Beechworth Correctional Centre Community Team and other groups within Beechworth community.
Two shelters have been erected along with refurbishment of 2 seats. Tree planting has taken place.
Next stage will be ther erection of a information board, guttering on shelters and water tanks.
ADOPT A HIGHWAY
This is another project of the club which the club has takenon, We are cleaning an area along the Beechworth/Wangaratta Road between Robinsons Rd and Flat Rock Road.
Local schools actively participate in this project, winning entry moves on to District Level..
We run a BBQ at the finish of the Barrowthon at Mount Buffalo Chalet car park. The Barrowthon was held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first barrow push between to gentlemen as the result of a bet. It was a resounding success and the organisers hope to run it as an annual event.
Our Aim is to be seen doing various activities within the community, hoping to gain support from locals and trying to increase our membership.

All welcome to look see or help whenever you can.
The club is also on call for any assistance needed to feed members of the Emeergency Services if required. We were on hand following the recent Bush Fires and the burning down of our IGA supermarket.
LIONS MEMORIAL WALK - LAKE SAMBEL
Our long awaited walk is nearly complete, As part of our 100th Lions Year Anniversary Project trees have beeb planted, path re aligned, seats are planned, memorial plaques for deceased Lions Members will be offered at $50 each to cover cost of plaque engraving and placement.
We are loooking at running this again for both Ladies, Men and Youths within the local community.
BACK TO WORK PROJECT
We also have this project in the pipeline to get unemployed people ready for job interviews, areas covered will be Resume Writing, Dress and Apperance etc. A number of local people have offered their services in this area.
